World-wide Agricultural Journalists
The International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) is a non-political, professional association for agricultural journalists in 29 countries. IFAJ supports and encourages the practice of agricultural journalism in countries embracing freedom of the press.
One of IFAJ’s mandates is improved contact between agricultural journalists. To that end, IFAJ publishes IFAJ News, organizes an annual congress hosted by a member country’s agricultural journalists’ association, and maintains a list of contacts, journalists who can help you.
The IFAJ holds an annual congress, for international delegates to meet. This year the IFAJ Congress takes place in Fort Worth, Texas, and will expand the scope of agricultural journalism conferences to the distant horizon - and beyond.
In addition to extensive tours of area agriculture, the traditional IFAJ delegate meeting, briefings from officials of the Texas Department of Agriculture (representing an $80 billion farm economy), hot Texas beef and cold Texas beer, IFAJ members will join in the professional development seminars and fun of the Agricultural Media Summit.
The Ag Media Summit draws hundreds of journalists, publishers, designers, public relations professionals and students from the United States and Canada for a rich program of professional development sessions and briefings from the day’s top newsmakers.
IFAJ PRESS RELEASE
IFAJ, Rabobank agree on sponsorship deal
The International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) has entered in to a one-year agreement with Rabobank to sponsor IFAJ’s newly redesigned website (www.ifaj.org). The agreement is for 2009-2010 with an option to renew in May 2010.
By agreeing to sponsor the IFAJ website, Rabobank will be able to provide ag journalists around the world access to the company’s premier ag research, as well as assist communicators with IFAJ member services and networking opportunities.
''IFAJ is deeply committed to providing relevant services to our diverse membership across the globe, and we could not do that without generous financial support from companies such as Rabobank,'' says Mike Wilson, IFAJ president. ''I am confident that this will be a very positive, productive partnership going forward.''
The sponsorship package will include branding on the IFAJ website and will provide a link to Rabobank's website. There is also scope for exchange of information through discussion groups on the IFAJ website and also the provision of online links to Rabobank research and market trend sites useful to IFAJ members.
According to Rabobank Senior Communications Manager Heather McElrath, a strong commitment and deep knowledge of agriculture make Rabobank a good fit for a global organization such as IFAJ.
''We realize agricultural media play a valuable role in helping our customers get timely information on developments affecting their businesses,'' says McElrath. ''As a result, we are pleased to support important groups like the IFAJ and to further their efforts to meet the information needs of the agricultural industry.''
As an IFAJ sponsor Rabobank will have the opportunity to attend IFAJ meetings including the annual congress and to work with the professional development committee.
The IFAJ is a non-political, professional association for agricultural journalists in 29 countries. Its website is a central platform for communication, information and professional development for agricultural journalists from all over the world.
